ENGLISH VERSION Avoid...

by TELETRES

ENGLISH VERSION Avoid mediterrannean aera in summer time. Overcrowded, overpriced, a huge tourist trap to me. In nearly all restaurants or so called places, you'll pay a lot more for less quality. High criminality too.

Here is a bit of trivia for you. This beautiful place with beautiful statue of the horse has a secret. The horse's leg is bent incorrectly. The sculptor was great artist but had poor knowledge of the anatomy of horses. It must have been quite embarrassing for the artist when he learned of his mistake. He probably felt like he had just slapped four men in back of the head on the metro when he found out.

Even the smallest gas station is heaven sent when your bike is running on the fumes. We had been on some of the smaller roads to see some scenery but it was a French holiday with most gas stations closed in the area.I must admit I expected to be sleeping at the roadside. Was delighted to find a gas station that was open in the end.......what a relief!

by Ivana_PF

Don't ask for a bottle of water in the restaurants, it is too expensive. ask a jug (a karaffe d'eau), they don't charge it.Don't go to Moulin Rouge or Lido to dinner. The dinner is poor and expensive. The show including dinner in Moulin Rouge is 790 or 890 or 990 FF, and the show with champagne only is 500 or 560 (depends on the time). In Lido is 815 or 915 or 1015. The show with champagne is 560 FF. In both the show begins at 11:00 PM.

French people love their own language, but it sucks when the tourist information here doesn't even speak English! It was happening when I asked something in train station at Paris. Guess you gotta bring a dictionary with daily French conversation.

by artful280

St Tropez , although it is a beautiful place is not a place to stay very long if you are on a budget. The cafes i found along the harbour front are very expensive, it is impossible to move and appreciate the place because of all the tourists and the traffic jams we had going in to the place would put some large cities to shame.

by josecarlos

Please, do not eat at those restaurants right in front of a museum or historical place. You'll be charged as a millionaire. It's better to walk a few blocks away from the downtown. Try to find any 'boulangerie' or grocery store. Then ask them to prepare a baguette for you... That, and a fresh juice will save you a lot of money and will feed you enough to continue your adventure...

by elmasri

Don't feel forced to stay at one of the hotels inside the resort, they will do a lot of damage to your wallet. There are hotels, aparthotels and hostals within 5 min from Disneyland.I stayed at one called Akena, where a family of 4 can easily stay in one room, and it takes literally 5-6 min to get there.Don't be fooled into taking children of a very young age or you will spend your day looking at other people going in the rides. There are height restrictions and the little ones are often not allowed to go.

Taxi drivers may take the 'long' route if they suspect that are new in town. Try to look like you know where you are going (stressed out is a good facial expression, everybody knows not to screw with a stressed out tourist right?)
