Me in France by dr.firas When I think about life in France I always repeat the same phrase, really damn exspensive, if the little cup of coffee could coast 3 Euro's in some places, that's too much I think, so be careful and get ready to pay and pay once you're in France! Leave a Comment

Pay phones can be a real hassle. There only seem to be a few pay phones left in the city that accept coins, and all the rest require pre-paid calling cards. The problem with this was that the least expensive calling card was in fact very expensive and not worth the money considering we only needed to make a couple calls. So beware of this. France by dr.firas SNCF is the French Railway service, it is great and not so hard to learn about it and to have tickets, informations, even by Internet, but some points which could really help a first time user of the French Railways: 1-Some trips and destinations are by TGV always, and some by normal trains, it depends on the direction and city 2-Never forget to composte your Ticket before getting on the Train, as it could coast you a hard Tax of 40 Euro, almost a Price of a one way Trip 3-Never think of Discounts if you are older than 25 Years Old 4-If you want to buy a year ticket of discounts, it is good but you will be forced to travel only in Saturday nights and get back in the Sunday morning! so please take notice, and Happy Traveling in France! France by dr.firas When you come in the Low Season when it is cold, you could be dispointed of the fact that the Fountains are not working, and that many statues are covered! that's really an unfortune fact, but in my opinion Versailles is always Versailles! and you will find it interesting even in the Low season! France, especially Paris, is place full of thieves. Personally I wasn't a victim of a robbery but I saw robbers in action. Keep an eye on your hand bags, cameras, mobile phones and wallets.

First of all,I want to say that I adore France and Icould bear everything there,but...beware of going in Bretagne during August time without having booked any accomodation! Every little hole is 'au complet',so the only solution is the hotel 1000 stars... Years ago I went to the Mont Saint-Michel,the most beatiful and charming paeninsula I had ever seen ,without any program. It was August and with my great surprise I realised that the hole region there was pulsing with an incredible multitude of people from everywhere. No chance to find a place to stay for the night.Just for the records,I made 35 calls to hotels, motels,b&b,guest rooms, pension and whatever offered a bed. Finally, after two and a half hours of frenetic search, when I was already in complete deperation ,a good French farmer shared my 'pain' and offered me a place inhis barn. What a relief ! The next day I had the most luxurious breakfast in country style with the family. So, be careful of booking early in summer time, because good farmers are few...
