Tides
Just like the storms, the tides could strike with no warning, so you'd better ask before you make the visit, some how the island could turn into a Prison and you will be forced to spend some nights till the water level goes down!

The Ocean is some times wild, even for boats and some times when storms are striking suddenly it is even impossible to visit Mont Saint Michel, so my absolut advice to you, check out the Meteo before you buy a ticket to Mont Saint Michel!

As I mentioned earlier, Cherbourg has a very large naval presence, and ofter there are vessels manoeuvering in the harbour. On our arrival in Cherbourg from the UK it was very dark. We enteret the harbour at the Western end and sailed up the Grande Rade towards the Petite Rade, where the marina is. There are countless lights all over the place, and one has to navigate very carefully in order to aim for the correct entry points. Soon after we had entered the Rade we had a strong searchlight beamed on us, and quickly lost our forward visibility. The French navy were moving a large submarine just inside of the breakwater. The light came from the alongside tug, and was a warning to keep clear, which obviously we did. Any visitors arriving by sea should be aware of this potential danger

Be careful around major stations for pickpockets or people trying to follow you; try not to look like a tourist too much and learn a few words on French. (Always surprises people if you reply in French not English)
When you come by car and want to park it in a free of pay place, go to the railwaystation, the parking of your car is free untill 14,002,00 pm, then you have to search either for a free place *which is really hard to find* or to park with paying by hour!

If you are having money at place using your visa card, please don't forget the rules that you don't have the right to have money more than 4 times from a forgin bank, otherwise you will have tax to be taken from your credits in your bank, so better order enough money from the first time.

I went to Versailles from Dijon by car, it is really fun as I passed through Sens, Auxerre, and enjoyed the beautiful landscapes, it is about 4 hours in car, be carefull, if you take the aoutroute, you will always have to pay!otherwise you take the alternative of the National route, which is for free! This phenomena is in France and Italy, but in other European country like Belgium, the Autoroute is for free!

I'm really sorry to say that, French people are so cultured and nice, but most of them talks only in French, so get ready not to be helped when you ask in English, because of that simple fact, as i always ask in French and people are so nice and gentle, and they explain in details but in French!fortunately Dr.Firas parle le Francais!

When I think about life in France I always repeat the same phrase, really damn exspensive, if the little cup of coffee could coast 3 Euro's in some places, that's too much I think, so be careful and get ready to pay and pay once you're in France!

When you come in the Low Season when it is cold, you could be dispointed of the fact that the Fountains are not working, and that many statues are covered!that's really an unfortune fact, but in my opinion Versailles is always Versailles! and you will find it interesting even in the Low season!
