    Aschaffenburg is a quite unknown and underrated place in the northwestern corner of Bavaria. It lies on the banks of the Main river and is the gate to the Spessart. Have a walk through the wounderful old historical centre and enjoy the picturesque architecture and great flair of the town.
    Aschaffenburg was the location of several United States Army - some of them still exist, so do not be surprised when a lot of people speak English in town.

    Not far away from Aschaffenburg you can see this castle (1419-1432). This small medieval castle is one of the beauty spots of the Spessart forest south-east of Frankfurt. Around the castle are various opportunities for walks. The castle itself is still inhabited but some parts can be visited.
