It's a drive into the back woods, but it's worth the wait! The food is great, but the beer and the view are the best in Bad Kissingen! The food is pretty typical, but very good... and huge in portions. The main part of the gasthaus over looks the valley where Bad Kissingen sits, and, during the summer months, the balconey is open with fest tables and benches. The house beer is a red ale, but they have dark, crystalweissen, and hefe as well! This is the perfect place for summer!
Favorite Dish: Jagerschnitzel... huge, tender, and covered with mushrooms!

Address: HA HA! Good luck trying to find this!
Food is prepared fresh and presentation is excellent. They have a small menu, but there should be something for everyone: from the standard schnitzel to salads to creamed wild mushrooms with bread dumplings. Good wine menu. If you like ice cream - don't miss the vanilla ice cream and homemade warm chocolate sauce!
Favorite Dish: 1. Kürbiskremsuppe (cream of pumpkin soup - autumn & winter only)
2. Hochzeitsessen (a local specialty of cooked beef in a horseradish-cream sauce, homemade noodles, and cranberry compote)
3. Pfifferlinge oder Pilze mit Semmelknödel (creamed mushrooms with bread dumplings)
4. Vanille Eis mit Shokoladensauce (vnilla ice cream with homemade chocolate sauce)

This is a good place to have a good German brotzeit. In addition to the usual warm meals, they serve a good meal for the not-so-hungry: selections of meat and cheeses with bread and salads. There is also a selection of local beer.

The Ratskeller is located in the basement of the Rathaus(ctíty hall). In summer there are also tables available outside on the street. Get there early in summer, the place gets pretty packed in the evenings. They offer german dishes and a large selection of wines and beer on tap.
Favorite Dish: If you go, don't miss the "Essen auf heissen stein." You're served a selection of meat, fish or poultry cuts, and a hot, flat rock. Then you get to cook the meat yourself. It is also served with fried potatoes, bread, and various sauces for dipping. Be sure to dress for the heat, it gets really warm with a table full of stones.
