The Keller Bier is one of the best beers in the world and you can only get it in this area of Germany. Ang the food at their brewery is also spectacular.
Favorite Dish: The best saurbraten I have ever had. And get the Keller Bier! Awarded the Gold medal 1995 World Championship Beer.

The cafe is divided into two sections. On one side there is the most wonderful display of cakes, I have seenin a long time and which can be bought to take away. On the other side is an extremely elegant dining area, complete with friendly and smiling waitstaff. There are also tables on the sidewalk if you like.
Favorite Dish: I was so boggled by the array of cakes that I wouldn't even try to recommend what was best. All I know is that the one I chose (a creamy, custard type of creation) was fabulous. Add a very nice coffee for a total bill of 4.30 euro and I was over the moon.

It was pure chance that I came across this little brewery............I was on my way back to the railway station by a rather circuitous route, and was desperate for a dirnk and something to eat.
It brews its own beer, of course....including Rauchbier (a smoke flavour, which I thought was lovely)........provides good local food at reasonable prices and has a few rooms to let (a good pat to stay, I suspect, especially for beer-lovers!).
It's been brewing for more than 450 years, apparently, and certainly knows how to create a very smooth drink.
There's a pleasant courtyard, with some areas covered/shaded from the weather and it seemed to be popular with locals (always a good sign). Service was courteous and pleasant.
I had Limburger cheese with 'Musik' and local bread. It was really excellent......but the 'Musik' did not work for me at all. :-))
A good, inexpensive place for a break.

This place has great quality Spanish/tapas style foods. The atmosphere is very nice, the people are not only professionals but they are fun and friendly as well!
Favorite Dish: They have the best tiramisu that I've ever tasted!

The main reason for visiting was to try the Rauchbier (smoked beer). That beer was a little disappointing, but I had to try it. The initial flavor was not too bad, but the aftertaste was about the same as smoked provolone. Not what I expected from a beer. Lunch was very good (brats and sauerkraut) as was the hefe weizen.
Favorite Dish: Hefe Weizen

The Brasserie Bamberg is a very good restaurant. Here you can taste good German dishes like Rumpsteak (200 g)with French potatoes, vegetables and salad. Very good is also the pork. Very friendly staff in a happy atmosphere.

The "Bootshaus" in Bamberg is a cozy beergarden located in the Luisenpark with a splendid view on the river. They have a small but delicious standard menu, but the main advantage is the idyllic location. The Luisenpark itself is pretty and good for jogging and walking.

There are lots of restaurants and cafes in Bamberg. However there is one thing because of which Bamberg is famous. That is Rauchbier. It tastes like smoked ham and bier together. It depends totally on your taste if you like that or not..Some people say you need to try it three times to start liking this:-)) But you should try this at least once in your life!!
Health food makes me sick.

This brewery is located in a building dating 1400's and produces beer and offers food since then.
The are 4 old rooms where you can enjoy the taste of one of the few smoked bier in the world (only 9 breweries produce this kind of beer), and one of them was once part of a monastery. In summer you can also sit in a garden close to a barrel that's more than 500 years old!
Of course you can also get food together with the beer, that's anyway the real attraction of the place!

A short steep climb to reach the beer garden of the Spezial brewery is well worth the effort. You'll be rewarded by some excellent food, beer and views across the city. A good place to spend a sunny evening.
