This cafe is the perfect place for a break during your exhausting sightseeing tour of the churches etc. It is located in a wonderful garden, offering great views of the town and the St. Michael convent on the hill vis-a-vis.
It is a charming cafe with a nice terrace, open in summer season only (May-Oct).
Favorite Dish: any cake and tea.

The restaurant Schlenkerla is *the* place for having an original local dark beer called "Rauchbier". The restaurant exists since 1678, and since then this beer is brewed and offered there.
The ambience is cosy, rustic. It is located in a former Dominican convent.
Favorite Dish: Rauchbier! (but they also offer great local food)

The food here really isn't all that great, but they do have two internet terminals. While it was hot and loud in there, going online is pretty cheap (50 cents for 20 min) and this was the only "internet cafe" we could find in Bamberg,

Bambergs breweries are famous for the "Rauchbier", a dark, tasty beer with the delicious smell of smoked ham. It is a local specialty and you just have to taste it!
