The "Strohalm" is a small music club in Erlangen with live music every evening. It is a stage for local bands, and as they write on their homepage on themselves they belong to Germany's top five live clubs... (?) - I am not that much into music - so I am not sure about that... At least - that's more important - my boyfriend loved his night here - he loves music.
Sunday it the newcomers' night, on Wednesday and Friday the club owner Wulli plays the guitar himself - so free entrance. I hope that says nothing on the music...

This is one of the best clubs in Erlangen. Though that is not saying a whole lot, it is really a nice place with two rooms. one usually house music and top charts while the other does rock and rap. kind of random with the drinks are very inexpensive (2.50 Becks) and the crowd is very young ; )
Theyre students since erlangen has a great Medicine university, from all over the world. they often speak english as well.
The night usually gets going around 12:00, sometimes so you can barely move in some parts, and then slows up at 4:00 or later. Sometimes they even have professional dancers taking the center elevated stage. With pretty good light effects and smoke! cool!
TIP: try not to bring a jacket since its 1 euros jacket check.
Dress Code: Anything, but the bouncer is an american biased person who sometimes decideds not to let in either turkish looking folks or canadians. :(

In Erlangen you'll find bars and discos.
In the bars and discos you'll meet a lot of students of the university!
I wouldn't say the nightlife of Erlangen is unique!
Dress Code: Just wear what you like.
Maybe they won't let you enter to some bars with sneakers, but that's rare!
