Zum Pleitegeier is a students' pub in Erlangen. Wood furniture - cozy but not traditional. Pretty nice atmosphere. Besides beer they have pretty a good menue for a very fair prize. Pizza, salads, pasta and some few regional stuff. It's not a must-do and not a real highlight - but if you are in Erlangen and look for an uncomplicated place for a beer and a meal - this would be a good place.

For Italian food, stop in at Carpaccio's, or Dolomiti's. They both have great prices as well as great taste. Another great restaurant is Casanova. This used to be a Brothel a long, long time ago and now has three stories with different style bars on each floor. The food is good, but the atmosphere is what makes this restaurant stand out.
However, if you are in Erlangen during the summer, I suggest heading down to the Berg!! There is a great Beer Garten named Entlas Kellar. They have a large menu for a beer garten, and some of the best beer in town by Kitzman (my favorites are crossed between this beer and Steinbach, which is another great beer kellar). They have live music on Thursday's and have a great tour on Sunday mornings at 11:00. I highly recommend this tour, eventhough it is in Deutsch. The Berg is named after the Hill (German for hill) where they were able to store beers in tunnels that were dug into the mountain. They would bring blocks of ice from the river and keep the beer cool year round. The tunnels are what you tour through. There are 22 km of tunnels, and most of them without lights!!! The cost of the tour is 3 euro and you get a free beer at the end!!! Leave a Comment Theme: Other
