I'm not sure you guys haven't written-off Frankfurt too easily. If you find museums interesting there are some excellent ones in Frankfurt. My favourite is the "cheese-wedge" (ie the Museum of Modern Art) which usually has an interesting exhibition (and a good permanent collection). But, if you are going to Israel, then you must visit the Jewish Museum (not too far from the "wedge").
If you've forgotten a present, or would like something that would appeal to an ex-Germanic Israeli, then the Christmas market is an excellent starting point. (There is plenty of choice when it comes to some more expensive shops, especially if your currency is not doing so well against the Euro right now!).
And there are some good restaurants around if you look. It's a while since I was last there, but there's a good (affordable!) fish restaurant - attached to a fish-shop - also near the "wedge". Sorry can't remember the name.

Great chance to have a look to german's culture. Really big outdoor market where you can buy typical Frunkfurt stuff and try different kinds of food such as sausages, cheese, roasted chestnuts, hot wine...

The best ways to enjoy your trip with plans is to count out Munich, but to leisurely listen to RIck Steves Travel time with himself seen on Public Broadcasting System every sunday at noon in Sacramento. He shares a select guide to the best sights, strategies for implementing your choices to make the better and more exciting trip with limited or no money, and landing affordable dinning recomendations with lodging.
Be careful at the exchange makers. Germanys' dollar is worth only .70cents of our $1.00.
Don't prepare to pay more than $10.00 for lunch and $15.00 for Dinner while lodging as a wise as possible as a student of board paying $80.00 bucks for a two bed accomodation
and site seeing participation not much more than 25.cents every one hundred fifty days.
Use Rick Steves' book and appendix for driving directions as his travelers road kit.
If not pal thats a lost!

This is one of the best tours I have experienced. A nice leisurely trip down the Rhine where you can see all of the castles and monumental areas. Amazed at the vineyards growing on very steep mountainside. Also visit the winery.
