The Town Hall in Fürth is modelled on the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence and is one of the main buildings in the town. Designed by Frederick Bürklein it was completed in December 1850 and is the first and only Town Hall in Fürth. The clock has been replaced a number of times the latest was in 1960 and it is now fully automatic. There is a carrillion in the 55m tower which is played every day just after noon and on special occasions. The tower is brightly lit up at night and and can be seen for miles by airline pilots. There is a subway station directly below the town hall.
