Best restaurant in Fuessen, hands down. It is done in a medieval style, complete with stocks outside, and knights armour everywhere! The rule of house is that you eat with your fingers and a dagger, and a bib is placed around your neck when you place your orders! You can order spirits, which are poured into your mouth straight from the barrel by one of the waiters and they only stop when you signal them to! The food is excellent, there is loads of it, and it is very reasonably priced, for the amount you get! I always make a point of going here, usually more than once! Also, on Tuesdays and Thursdays they have traditional live Bavarian music!
Favorite Dish: Everything! But especially the ribs and the cannonballs!

The restaurant is a cute little place. If its nice outside, you can sit outside and eat like I did. I ordered a pizza and a soda. Sodas are so expensive in Germany, not sure why, but it was like 4 euros for a glass of coke there. Anyway, the food was good, service was ok. Perfect location. After touring castle, nice to come here for a nice lunch.
Its also a small gift shop too and you can buy stamps here. There is also a little stand outside restaurant for people on the go to get a pretzel, soda, a water or an icecream. Next to this little stand is a mailbox. Mail is picked up at least daily.
Favorite Dish: The pizza was very very good

This lovely little Bistro almost called to us as we approached its doors. Warm and welcoming , friendly staff and HUGE portions of delightful pastries, salads, and hot and cold snacks.
Favorite Dish: The apfelstrudel was to die for. A huge portion with a generous blob of cream followed by a steaming mug of hot chocolate set us up for the morning.

We didn't actually eat much here, but what we did was very nice.
What I really wanted to pass on was the ambience of the place. It has a very up market feel about it, despite the rudeness of the waitress when we were there.
She did have an excuse mind, they were very busy and she didn't understand English but I still feel a smile is much better than a scowl or turning your back on someone.
I'd like to go back on a day when they're not so busy.
Favorite Dish: I actually was so thirsty I had a hot chocolate earlier and the milkshake to follow up.
There was one thing I'd never seen before and that was a stirrer with lots of small honey crystals (pic 2) stuck to it. Very novel, and very tasty!
The milkshake was about twice the price that you pay in Australia but, I was just glad to finally see one.

Zum Hechten was recommended by a guide book, and it was an excellent choice. They specialize in Pike from the Lech river. I had the pike, and it was delicious! The atmosphere was cozy and friendly. And the service was wonderful.

The Lisl Hotel (right outside Fussen) offers traditional German food. Dishes are rightly priced and are delicious. Some specialities are prepared right at your table. Make sure you request a seat by a window as you'll have the perfect view of Neuschwanstein as you dine. Service was friendly though not in a hurry. You probably do not need a reservation.

This restaurant was great, just off the main street. We went twice while on vacation, the first time with our children the second time alone. The waitress remembered us even though there was a week between visits which we found wonderful. Lovely service and lovely food.
Favorite Dish: My favourite dish was the stuffed pasta with four cheese sauce, one of those meals you never want to end.

A Turkish Pizza Cafe right next to the train station, it's a tiny little place with a couple of bar style tables and stools inside and outside.
Well, it's the 1st and only Turkish pizza place we ever eat at, and the rolled up pizza with fresh lettuce, onion and tomato is so good, I tried to eat there almost every day, looks very easy to make but it was so good especially with hot pepper sauce, I sure hope I can get it some place in my home town.
