Of course a medieval Town has to have a Market Place, and here, they had a lovely one.
The main road extends between the city's towers to the marketplace.
From here, if you take the stone path to the north, this is where the gate of the ancient Middle fortifications was.
Located here, is a nice Fountain of St. George and Cafe's.
Festival's, Fair's and Market's are held here.
Walking around the old town of Herzogenaurach, I came across the nice Fountain of St. Kilian.
Legend states, that at this very spot, Apostle Kilian preached in the year 686.
The town commissioned the Statue in 1934, and honoured Bamberg sculptress Maria Lerch, with the design of a memorial fountain.
The main street in the old town was really beautiful. There were so many half timbered home's! Since the city's founding in the 13th Century, this has been the main axis of the city. It is along this street where you will find the high Tower's, many Shop's and Restaurant's and Cafe's.
