How can I describe this? It’s an annual ball - mostly formal - held every February at the Stadt Theater.
Those who buy the expensive tickets (€33 each) for the tables inside the theatre area wear formal dress. If you buy a cheaper ticket for the public areas in the theatre, lounge suit is fine. Food and drink is on top of the ticket price.
It kicks off at 7pm, and finishes about 3am. Dance bands, a singer and dance shows in the main hall all evening. Other bands play in the public areas.
My dinner - lamb salad, then pork and beef medallions with spaetzle - was very good. My friend was disappointed by hers. One of our group - I will preserve her anonymity - went for the weisswürst, pretzels & sweet mustard available at 3am!
It was a wonderful evening, and a very novel experience for me. A bit like the student balls I remember from university days, but much more sophisticated.

Well, I was very surprised when my host in Ingolstadt told me there was a "Mexican" restaurant-bar where she wanted to take me... But apparently Sausalitos is the most popular and "chic" place for clubbing in town!
Located right in downtown, this is a bar-type place with a nice environment: they play all kinds of music (mostly pop) and serve alcoholic drinks and "Mexican" food... I didn't taste it but they did seem to have some of the most representative dishes of the Mexican cuisine (*still wondering how they get to cook them*).... At least they knew their names! Anyway, there is always a lot of people there and the service and environment are nice. Prices weren't that high, so it might be a good choice for night entertainment among the many pubs you can find in Ingolstadt....

Between the shopping pedestrian area and the Kreuztor (the most beautiful of Ingolstadt's reminding city gates) you find a street-triangle where most of the downtown pubs and bars are located. You will find everything there from a little more chic ("Sausalitos", "Mo") to down to earth relaxed pubs ("Neue Welt", "Alte Post") or even punk places ("Engelwirt"). When you like beergardens visit the one right next to Kreuztor ("Glockn") or the one one the left triangle street ("Mo"). Have fun!
Dress Code: You'll find everything from chic to punk (see above).

This is my favourite dancing place after a tour through all the bars. It's inside an beautiful old house in an huge former beer cellar and located in the heart of Ingolstadt's old city. So you can walk from your beergarden / the bar area to the Club.
Pay the cheap entrance of some Euros, go down the stairs and you'll find a mixed crowd of youngsters upto mid-thirties and an equally mixed music from Rock and Pop to Disco and Punk.
The drinks are inexpensive, too and you have to try the so called "Goass". it's a pretty sweet mix of dark beer, coke and cherry liquor. Or you just stick to the best pure beer in the world ;-)
Have fun!
Opening hours:
* Wed & Thur 22-03
* Fr & Sat 22-04
* Before holidays 22-03
Dress Code: The Dress Code is totally relaxed. The door is impressive (huge bodybuilders) but totally easy if you don't come drunk, dirty or agressive.
