Our hotel had a very nice restaurant on the ground floor. For the sake of simplicity, we had lunch here... and when it turned out the place we planned to have dinner was closed, we came back and had dinner here as well.
There is no exact translation for "gut bürgerliche Küche" (I literally translate it as "Good citizenly cooking," while Google Translate says it means "Well Civil Kitchen"), but this place is exactly so. Don't expect gourmet cuisine, but do expect fresh and well-prepared meals at very reasonable prices. In other words, Gut bürgerliche Küche.
Favorite Dish: I liked our lunch the best, I had the kartoffelpuffer (more or less potato pancakes, though our hostess frowned when I translated it thus to Sara...) with smoked salmon, while Sara had Rösti (a Swiss variation of grated potatoes, not unlike American "hash browns") with a fried egg and vegetables. Yummy!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and each night we ate there too. This is a first and so far only for us. It's not that other places in town were not enticing, just the food was excellent here and the menu warranted several visits. Lucky enough to eat outside each evening too. a favourite spot for us.

The food is traditional Bavarian and local Bodensee fish dishes. Atmosphere of old oak floors and tables is just what you are looking for as a tourist.
Favorite Dish: Everything was good, especially the struedel. Don't forget if you dont want anything to eat come here and have some Paulaner Beer. I like the Helles.

great architecture in a scenic landscape

Lindau is an interesting town on Bodensee / Lake Konstanz. Take a walk through the old part of town and you will find lots of interesting houses and some remains of the medieval townwalls.
