Alte Pinakothek, Munich
Munich has 3 world-famous art galleries right next to each other, the "Pinakotheken". The "Alte Pinakothek", with paintings of 14th to 16th century artists, like Dürer and Rubens is the most famous one. The "Neue Pinakothek" houses Van Gogh, Klimt, Renoir and other artists from the 17th to 19th century, and the "Pinakothek der Moderne" is Germany's biggest museum of modern art, featuring Andy Warhole and some Picassos.
Favorite thing: visit Alte Pinakotek. This is Munich's most important art museum. Its collection is fantastic. The nearly 900 works on display in this Neoclassical building represent the greatest European artists from the 14th to the 18th century. There are numerous paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens and Van Dyck. The Italian masters are well represented by Raphael, Titian Giotto, Botiticely…and much more…
Favorite thing: If you plan to visit Munich try to spend a weekend here so that you can visit the museums on Sunday when admission is FREE!! You must see Alte and Neue Pinokothek and the Moderne one, they're great.
