Favorite thing: You can get to Residenz walking from Marianplatz or from Odeonsplatz. This is a beautiful palace with an expectacular garden in the front, that like others where partly destroyed during the II WW. At the entrance you will find 2 green lions .. you have to do something to the lions ... I don't remember what ...:))) but I did .... and one year later I can say that nothing have happend ? .... :))) ok ... I am still alive ....
There are four lion statues guarding the side entrances of the huge Residenz complex.
People rubb the nose of the little lion on the shield (see photo) for good luck!
The Munich Residenz is one of the biggest Royal residences in Europe. Its rooms are celebrating architectural styles from Baroque and Roccoco to Renaissance and any important era, in about 110 rooms and 6 courtyards!
This is where the Bavarian kings and queens of past centuries used to live. The kingdom of Bavaria was rules from Munich for many centuries. Today Bavaria is a part of Germany and Munich is only it's state capital.
Many people would want Bavaria to be independent from Germany.
Favorite thing: Residenz - Royal Residence, palace of different styles of architecture. I was impressed of weird style of painting the walls as frescoes, instead of making it 3D. Art exhibitions are held inside, as I understood.
