Favorite thing: Visit the Oktoberfest! The Munich Oktoberfest - known by the locals as the 'Wiesn' - is the biggest public festival in the world and will be held in 2001 for the 168th time. Each year, the Oktoberfest is attended by around 6 million visitors, who drink around 5 million liters of beer and consume over 200,000 pairs of pork sausages - mostly in the 'beer tents' put up by the traditional Munich breweries.

Favorite thing: inside a beer tent at Oktoberfest . There were several different tents. It was so much fun...the Oompah bands would play and for certain songs...the crowd went wild!
Fondest memory: I have a few. I had fun dancing with a group of Italians. I also had fun hanging out with some people from Belgium...there was a definate language barrier....but we managed to have a blast and they didn't want us to leave. Another fond memory was when a fellow New Yorker I met there bought me a rose.It was very sweet.

rtschneider's General Tip
Fondest memory: One day while we were at the Oktoberfest we were sitting at a table right next to the stage where a German band was playing. During their break I walked on stage to make friends. When they were ready to play again and the tamborine player was not back yet, they let me play with them and I have a picture to prove it!
