Käfer's Wiesenschänke: Where to find the Jet-Set of Munich

by globetrott Updated Aug 29, 2004

KÄFER (bug ) is certainly one of the best places to go, when you are looking for a perfect meal, excellent service, and do not have to look for the money you will have to pay...

KÄFER has a deli-shop and a restaurant in Munich , and he has also one of the bigger tents on Oktoberfest :
1000 seats inside and 1900 seats outside of his tent that looks rather like a chalet in the mountains.

    For reservations call
    Tel: (089) 416 83 56 and
    Fax :(089) 416 88 80
during O'fest call directely to the tent :
    (089) 50 07 73 34
    Fax:(089) 50 07 74 47

INside the tent you may mostly NOT get a seat, as all of the VIP's of Munich, actors, politicians etc. are mostly going there, and when they do not know you, you mostly have NO chance to get inside...

    OUTside is no problem !!

Favorite Dish: My favorite at Käfer's Wiesenschänke is the Coffee :
It is served in a big cup, beautifully decorated with bugs ( Käfer means bug ) - and the best is :
You may take your Käfer-coffee-cup home for free !!
(and it looks different each year !)

    bugs on Oktoberfest !

Restaurant Käfer Schenke: One of the top restaurants in Germany

by islaazul Updated Apr 4, 2011

Restaurant Käfer Schenke is arguably the top restaurant in Germany (Tantris is the other really famous one). The owner, Michael Käfer, caters to diplomats and heads of state visiting Germany.

Patrons are of the Munich jet-set crowd. There is a vast wine selection, and each room is beautifully decorated with a different theme.

    Monday-Saturday 12.30pm-midnight

Favorite Dish: The food is European-Asian-inspired. It's fresh and delicate--definitely fancy stuff. As German standards go, the food is definitely at the forefront.

Kafer Bistro: Yet Another Breakfast Option at Munich Airport

by ellyse Updated Apr 4, 2011

I didn't eat here, but this would be another possible breakfast option in the transit area of Terminal 2, Munich airport. Similar to Dallmayr Bistro, it's open from 0500 to 2100.
