During Munchener Olimpic Games 1972, I was in Hamburg I watched on TV the plays. I also wached how the terrorists killed some Israili sportlers. It was a sad Olimpics. I wish all people to live in peace."Peace at home, peace in the world" a quatation of Ataturk.

The Olympiapark in Munich is an Olympic Park which was constructed for the 1972 Summer Olympics. Found in the area of Munich known as the "Oberwiesenfeld" ("upper meadow-field"), the Park continues to serve as a venue for cultural, social, and religious events such as events of worship.

Notice the football pitch across the lake, the picture doesn't it justice but its there??? No idea how you play a game of football on it, considering its on a massive slope. Reckon the right and left backs have to do a bit of swimming???

    Fancy a game?

    Munich is a sports city

Munich has 2 soccer clubs in the German "Bundesliga", the highest league.

And FC Bayern is world-famous, because it is one of the top 5 soccer teams in the world (according to the official FIFA ranking).

Don't miss the Olympiazentrum - the biggest sports park in Europe, where you can do any kind of imaginable sports on the ground of the 1972 Olympic Games, with the world-famous and admirable acryl-glass roof.
See my travelogue for more photos.

People in Munich also love to do outdoor sports, like rollerblading, biking or jogging through the huge parks, esp. the Englischer Garten and Olympiapark, the sports mecca.

Munich hosted the 1972 Olympic Summer Games, the 1988 European soccer championship, the 1997 Championsleague final, the 2002 European Athletic championships, as well many other big tournaments.
The 69,000 seat Olympic Stadium is also used for huge open air concerts like Michael Jackson, ACDC, Bon Jovi ,Robbie Williams Rolling Stones (in 2003)and many more!

The powerful Bayern Muenchen didn't have an own stadium previous to the built of the Bayern Arena, so they used to play at Olympia Stadium in Olympia Park.
