This is a must visit if you are an automobile fan. You are in the homeland of the famous cars and motorcycles, why do not stop by and take a look?

Fortunately the museum was just across the street from where I lived in Muenchen.

Sunset over BMW tower, taken Jan. 2003

The BMW tower, which houses the BMW museum is one of Munich's highlights in modern architecture.

Ever since 1966, the BMW-works exhibit home-designed technology, products and developments. Every four years an artist is chosen to bring the exhibition up to date. The museum is situated in the silvery so-called ‘Salatschüssel’ (salad bowl) next to the Concern’s administrative building, whose four-leafed-clover design represents the four cylinders of a car engine. Visits to the assembly lines can be arranged after prior agreement by telephone (Tel. 38 22 33 06).

The BMW building and museum as seen from the Olympic Park. Unfortunately we weren't able to go in as we just missed the last entry to the museum by about 10 minutes. I like ho wthe building is in the shape of the BMW logo though!

Whether you actually go inside the museum or not (I saw enough high priced BMWs on the streets) at least climb the surrounding olympic hills to get a fantastic view of the city...and one heck of a workout.

BMW Museum. Great place to hang around when you love cars (and I really do...). Starting its make history as an aircraft engine manufacturer, the BMW brand became well-known for its terrific cars. In the museum you get every aspect of BMW's history.

might not be your cup of tea but if you love cars or even just interested in manufacturing the BMW factory tour is a must! absoloutley brilliant tour, available in German and English. Problem is you have to book about 6 weeks in advance at times. If you are going to spend some time in Munich its worth checking out.

If you're a fan of BMWs, this is a museum you shouldn't miss! The BMW museum shocases past, present and future products of one of the world's leading auto makers. You will find the BMW headquarters near the Olympic park, in a building shaped like a 4 cylinder engine. In front of this building is the BMW museum where you'll learn everything about the technical evolution of the (BMW) automobile.

The BMW Museum, located in a smaller but equally offbeat-looking structure next to the BMW Building. It has amazing cars and bikes on display from every step in the company's history. It also tries to convince you that BMW is a great company that cares about people and wants to prevent global warming and traffic congestion and yadda yadda yadda.

Not far from the Olympiastadion is the impressive BMW building and museum. Inside is a history of the company and examples of its vehicles, plus its fairly cheap to enter.

The museum and factory are pretty cool for any car enthusiast, especially the exhibit on check point Charlie through Berlin and how they used a BMW to sneak through.
