It's more elegant than I expected
Having just arrived from the Biergarten at the foot of the Chinesischer Turm, I expected the same kind of relaxed atmosphere. The Lowenbrau people are, apparently, a little more refined.
Honestly? We stopped by just to use the restroom, but it was a very pretty biergarten, and everyone looked very happy.
In the park off the Biergarten we saw some young men getting checked by the cops. They were a bit unsteady on their buns, and there were several empty beer bottles (the large kind, not the American kind) at their feet. Very interesting to see how kind and gentle the cops are in Germany.

Don't belive anyone that tells you that the beer is worm or room temp. over there, because it's not. The beer was really cold, and good! This beer was the best I have ever had...and I'm known to be a big beer drinker.

Munich is also the capital of beer. Visit one of the many beergardens in the city, sit on a beer bench and drink a 'Mass' beer (1 Liter). In September ( !!! ) you can go to the world famous Oktoberfest. Please be aware that Munich is very crowded then and that you'll have to book your hotel several months in advance.

A beer hall. The hall we visited catered to tourists but we managed to have a good time! The beers came in two sizes – liter of 1/2 liter. I chose the former and was quite warm but the end of the night! We hoped on the stage and danced the YMCA with the oompah band.
Drink a beer in a Beer Garden
Germany, famous for its beers and beer gardens. Hanna took us to a place in central Munich which was situated on an artificial lake. You can see me and Hanna enjoying a small glass of beer. Hanna's has lemon added causing a lighter color.

Enjoy a beer at a Bavarian Beer Hall
The locals who go to the Beer hall have their own beer steins safely stored for them. The tourists get the glass mugs, as they were being stolen too often. Not to worry, your stein will be ENOURMOUS! Try the sausage dinner with sawerkraut,YUMMY!
There is a traditional band with singing and dancing. Everyone is dressed up in traditional costumes.
This was hard to determine, must see or tourist trap. The Hofbrauhaus is a must see tourist trap. The beer is good though and it's an interesting atmosphere. Dont forget to get a pretzel to go with your beer.

Hofbrauhaus - no,no better - Biergarten
I have been several times in Muenchen without beeing once at the Hofbrauhaus. So I decided in 2002 to have that experience how visitors from all over the world see "Germany".
It was an atmosphare like beeing on a busy trainstation: drunken guests clacking their beerstones together like they would never do in another area, people from all over the world sung as bad as they can, unfriendly waiters and of course the very loudly played "Blasmusik".
If every tourist is visiting the Hofbrauhaus to have the best impression of Germany and Germans than I feel ashamed for that what they will see.
For me it was my first and last visit to the Hofbrauhaus.
I do love the "Biergaerten" in Munich, they are typical for Bavarian culture.
My favorite "Biergaerten" are:
Seehaus, in the "Englischer Garten"
Kugler Alm, a bit outside of Muenchen, easy to reach by bike
I will follow up with the list and the photos soon.
in spring and summertime the most relaxing spot in town - mostly apart from street´s noises (not all, but many), usually excellent "native food" and at some places very good basic and high class kitchen!
Check out for SEEHAUS (English Garden), one of the hottest spots to see and be seen

the pride of bavaria
Beer was invented ,it is written, by the monks who also founded munchen. Now this beer can be sampled in all its glory at any of the many beer halls around the city. The most famous of these is the hofbrauhaus.
- Beer Tasting
Actually, more of a must do activity. Unfortunately, I didn't head to Munich during Oktoberfest but oh well, beer gradens are still set up on various locations in Munich.
More info will be written in a travelogue so check there.
This is the famous beer hall, founded in the late 16th century. Get yourself a beer and some wurst and experience some local culture. The floors are wooden and there are large tables and benches.
Visit a beer garden
Stop for a beer at one of the many beer gardens. In Munich, unlike other German cities, it is permissible to bring your own food if you so desire.

Beer gardens. During summer when it's warm, beer gardens in Munich are the meeting point for tourists and people from Munich.
Sitting around, enjoy the beer and life and everything.
Munich has some of the most famous beer halls. Beer drinking is a big part of the local culture and is highlighted every year during their Oktoberfest.
