Drive (or take a coach tour) south into the mountains to visit as many of the Royal castles as you can. I managed to fit Linderhof, Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau in one day, plus the monastry at Ettal... see my travelogs
Neuschwanstein is just spectacular even if unfinished - definitely the highlight of my visit... the Linderhof is grand on a smaller scale
Check out the famous Bavarian castles. They are what tourists usually want to see in Munich, and I am sure they worth visit. I personally had no enough time to check out Nymphenburg and Neuschwanstein, but surely, I will do it once. Happily for VT community, lots of VT members were there and have an excellent photo collection, so it will not be a big tragedy for my page so far.
Next to the palace is a tiny chapel. Very easy to miss as the door is closed and only a cross above the door tells you of its existence.
If you can....try to go to Fussen! It is soooooooooo beautiful!!! Ludwig's castles are just amazing!
The landscape is breathtaking and sets you on your way to Dreaming......
It's the smaller castle of Ludwig II.
The area around is very nice. And the castle is pretty. The forest around too.
