Auf Vorschlag von Sir Benjamin Thompson angelegt, ist der Englische Garten die größte innerstädtische Gartenanlage der Welt.

In the English Gaden, about half way up near the Monopteros, is the Chinese tower. One of the citys most visited beer gardens is here, live music at weekends too....sound good?

When you've had enough of the city, the meadow opposite the Monopteros is a good place to relax. People come here to sunbathe, picnic, swim in the Eisbach (ice stream) or ride horses.

Great place to bike or walk through, check out the Padoga which sells beer and the many naked people sunning themselves, if you are lucky you can see people surfing in the drainage ditches.

The huge, beautiful Englischer Garten, near the Residenz. I suggest averting your eyes if you pass by the nude sunbathing section - ain't nothing but pasty old men.

The Chinesischer Turm beer garden in the Englischer Garten. Dominated far more by relaxed locals than the fratboy-beseiged Hofbrahaus, with delicious 1-liter mugs of frothy brew for a pittance.

It seems to have some ancient significance but the day we were there it was merely the top of a sledding run for the kiddies.

This is one of the great city parks in Europe with perhaps the most relaxed atmosphere. In summer, there are beer gardens and nude sunbathing but the winter has its own charms.
