Marienplatz is bustling during the day and great for people watching. There are a couple of cafes in the square to grab a coffee and crossaint and people watch.

You can find the famous Rathaus right at the Marienplatz. It's not far to the Hofbräuhaus, hard Rock Cafe, and other sights. It takes a 10 minute walk to Isar-Tor and Sendlinger Tor.
The "Kaufingerstraße" and other streets around Marienplatz are quite good for shopping and have many cafe houses and restaurants. The New Town Hall, or Neues Rathaus, dominates the square and is 79 meters high (as seen in the picture).
Three times a day visitors can watch the famous Glockenspiel. The figures perform the "Cooper's Dance," at 11am, noon and 5pm. This is well worth viewing, a very charming experience. :^) Leave a Comment
