Mariensplatz is the heart of the city and usually swarming with tourists. Full of beautiful statues and architecture. it has a certain charm about it and will entice you to stay longer in Munich.

...full of tourists of course but very impressive! Lots of cafés in the vacinity, and within walking distance of loads of fantastic churches. Great atmosphere - just mind your bags!

be sure to bring an umbrella to Germany even in the middle of Summer, cause you will need it.

Marienplatz is dedicated to the patron of the city whose golden statue is on the top of a huge column (the Mariensaule) in the center of the square.
