It's always nice to go for a walk in Munich. Here in the early morning you see the medieval Gothic Gates (in German Tor) of the ancient city wall. There are still three gates in the city. Here you see the Sendlinger Tor and the Isartor. They were both build early 14th century. On the Isartor you find a fresco painting which displays the triumph of Ludwig from Bavaria after the victory against the Habsburgers in 1322.

    Siegestor

Built between 1843-1852 in honour of a Bavarian Army leader and his army who won several battles in the Napoleontic wars.

After substantial damaging in WW II The Tor was restored and the next text was engraved: 'Dem Sieg geweiht, im Krieg zerstört, zum Frieden mahnend'.

which should mean something like:"Devoted to victory, in war destroyed, asking for peace

    Siegestor from southside

This door at the entrance to "Schwabing", a district of Munich has been built originally for the successful soldier troups coming back to town. It has been constructed between year 1843 and 1850.
On the southside are the words:
dedicated to the victory - destroyed during the war - reminding for peace
    (put there after WWII)

The Sendlinger Tor (Gate) at the Platz of the same name, was built in the 14C. The associated walls are gone but the towers remain around the gate. It is down Sonnenstrasse near the Asamkierche.
