It's rather tough with the look of plastic about it. Heaven only knows what it's made of. But you really aren't supposed to eat it, that's for sure. So remember, when someone forces you to eat weisswurst - and they surely will - you should cut the sausage lengthways and just peel that nasty skin away.
Of course, if you happen to be eating the things with someone you don't like very much, and they don't know that you shouldn't eat the skin, you can choose NOT to tell them and chortle quietly to yourself as they force themselves to swallow while effusively praising the merits of the weisswurst to their host...
Achtung!!! Warning!!! you must be careful while you have a walk in the streets ... because you can be in the bicycle way ...
The year I went to Munich I did understand enought german to know that .... I was insult for being walking in bicycle way ...
I am very sorry for doing that ... but ... as I am from a place where there are no bicycle ways ... I did forget sometimes ... !!!!
but I was glad to understand the insults :)) It was a real profe that I was progresing my german :))
When we entered the restricted area of the airport, after passport control, where they check your luggage, we were asked to "test" our camera to make sure it did not blow up.
It is good to see that airports are taking more precautions against terrorists. This is the picture that the "checker" took of us.
Even if Munich is one of the safest places to be (you can use the Underground as a woman even in the night), you should avoid the English Garden at night, too many drug dealers and other people, who might not be on your top 5 friendship list. If you are in one of the beergardens till late, go in a group
Don't expect anyone outside of international hotels to speak English. Many people do, but a lot of restaurant staff, bierkeller staff and so on don't.
Just because the menu is in English, you can't expect the staff to understand or speak it. Often you say "steak" and point to the menu which says number 1234 beside the word "steak", and they write down "steak" after consulting the German menu.
Even if you speak some German you may not be out of the woods, as this is Bavaria not Germany, so your attempt at a bread-roll "Broetchen" is rebuffed with "Semmel?".
when visiting the old Valentin-Musäum (Isartor), a homage to Munichs burlesqe actor and famous cabaret artiste, mind that you only will have free access when you are aged 99 with your parents at your side - otherwise you will have to pay 99 Pfennig - don´t now how they handle this in Euro ...???
Although Munich is famous for its excellent beers, you should never ever try the infamous 'Bierschnitte' which is offered in some restaurants. It tastes really terrible. Do not mistake for 'Milchschnitte', a popular dessert in Germany.
Gluhwein! While walking in the street in center Munich you can see many people wandering with strange blue cups. Well they are drinking Gluhwein! Gluhwein is hot red wine with optional 'toppings' like rum!
The danger is that it is HOT! and STRONG!
Here we are me (top left) and some colleagues, including a VT member (QUEST! which is he? And what is his username?). It takes a long time to drink all the wine, a good suggestion is to let snow fall into the cup to make the wine a bit colder. Another danger is the risk to get drunk, it depends on how you resist to alcohol.
Don't go to Deutsches museum with your friend!!!
If you go just don't see math's department!!!
If you will, check out your friend's IQ is higher than that one of chimpanzee!!!
OK, let me tell the story.
There is a IQ test in that particular department of Deutsches museum. It's said that genious would solve the problem of putting those couloured boxes right way in 3 min, average man in 10 min, a women in 20 min and a chimpanzee in half an hour. When my friend tryed to solve it we missed our Dachau visit, almost missed the athletic event, and came out of a museum VERY thirsty cos we wouldn't have any beer for over than two hours!!! And do you think after such a long time he solved the problem? See his face and decide whether he did or didn't. :-))
My only warning is travelling in June. Guess what? The sun starts coming up at 4:00 a.m. So be warned all party animals, if you like the vampire life then be back to your room early lest the early rising town folk laugh at you staggering home in the daylight.
I discovered recently there are no left luggage lockers at Marienplatz U Bahn station any more. Nearest ones are at hauptbahnhof (there are thousands of them there) or Ostbahnhof
There was a tipical apple pie, I can't remember the name, and it's like a drug. Once you try it you can't stop thinking of it!
some people (maybe old people) likes to dress this dresed..maybe it remeber their when they was young!!!
Carolina is it true?
Do not, I repeat, do not let a crazy Italian tourist take pictures of you with your camera, they will then proceed to take pictures of everyone else in the bar too.
