These Nazi remnants are not really tourist traps, but I don't feel that they are "must see" activities either. It is important to remember the past, but not to glorify the horrors of the past.

In this case, the reviewing stand where Hitler once held mass rallies and reviewed the troops is a gloomy and eerie place. It is much smaller than the films of Leni Riefenstahl would suggest. And covered with grafitti it is probably an appropriate memorial to the meglomania of Hitler and his cronies. It is sad, pretentious and quite ugly.

Lighten the mood and visit the medieval town center.

Königstor

By the Königstor tower, near the Central station, there is this so called medieval village which does indeed have tasteful German souvenirs, and a few restaurants, but which nevertheless feels like a tourist trap.

Have a wonderful Bavarian beer, and buy your aunt the thing you just cannot find at home.

People line up to turn the ring in the Schoenebrunnen. Legend has it, a nobleman's daughter once fell in love with a blacksmith, just a poor commoner. The blacksmith asked for his love's hand in marriage, but the nobleman merely scoffed at him. He told the blacksmith to prove himself as a true master of his craft, and then he would consider letting the blacksmith marry his daughter. Not much later, a seamless brass ring was found in the middle of this monument in the Market Square--seamlessness being the mark of a true master craftsman. Just when the nobleman was having a change of heart towards the thought of his daughter and the blacksmith, the blacksmith disappeared, never to be heard from again. They say that if you turn the seamless ring 3 times with your love, you'll have a love that endures the test of time.

This is a restaurant, VERY (!) expensive, and you definetly get out hungry...and pass at McDonalds around the corner!

NO! Stay out, there are many good and expensive restaurants, but this one is a cheater.

Every other restaurant..?!
