How to arrive and move around
Arriving by car:
For those who come by car on a day trip: there is ample parking outside of the town centre, free of charge. Oberammergau’s website does not provide a map with parking yet, but on the Passion Play site is a map with bus shuttles and it also marks the location of these free parking spaces: => map, parking
For those who stay in Oberammergau for more than a day trip band stay in one of the accommodation connected to the Königscard system: your host will provide you with a paper for the car dashboard, which gives you free parking inside of the town centre.
Arriving by train:
Oberammergau is in easy reach from Munich, 1 ½ hour travel time with train change in Murnau. The train station is located to the town’s (north)west, direction of Unterammergau:

Oberammergau – how to get there
The nearest international airport is Munich, Franz Joseph-Strauss Airport (airport code: MUC). From there, just a quick S-Bahn trip into Munich and then with the train to Oberammergau. Travel time after arrival at the airport: slightly less than 3 hours, with train change in Munich and Murnau. Check Bahn website for details: Deutsche Bahn

Leaving Oberammergau we used the train as we were going to Memmingen. We had to change trains in Munich, but it was very easy to do that. Good website to use for train times is www.bahn.de. It is also a good idea to purchase you tickets online a few days before your trip as you can get your ticket for up to 50% cheaper.
We used the RVE bus to get to Oberammergau from Garmish. A very nice ride through some scenic countryside.
