Donaukraftwerk Jochenstein
The Powerplant was built between 1952 and 1956 based on an agreement between Austria and Germany. Yearly the plant produces 850.000.000 Kwh of electricity wit it´s 5 turbines. You can cross the river from Germany and Austria through a pedestrianbridge. The plant and the lock are open all year. Daily between 6.00 and 22.00 Hrs.. Visit the informationcenter on the Austrian side, where you can learn all about this plant and producing energy.

Staying in Obernzell you got various options to take a boattour on the Danube.
First possibility is boating to Linz in Austria or one of the stops along the way to Linz. Even all the way to Vienna is possible, but be aware of the costs and the distance.
We took the local bus to Passau, visited Passau for more than half a day and then went back to Obernzell by Boat, which is about one hour and being with small kids that is enough. This part of the river is very beautiful to boat on.
