Stublang

by richiecdisc

Little more than a small farming village in Franconia, it nonetheless gives a glimpse into rural German life. I can almost hear the pigs squealing now. Stublang is in the Staffelberg region, which is very good for hiking and cycling. Of course, the best thing is there are two great brewpubs there.

Heilgersdorf, yeah right

by richiecdisc

Okay, maybe no one goes to Heilgersdorf but they do have a great little brewpub by the name of Scharpf. It's at Haupstrasse 16 and in this one horse town, easy to find. The house brewed Marzen was quite good and it's right outside of Sesslach. All you need is a VERY UNDERSTANDING girlfriend to drive you there. ;)

Schloß Herrenchiemsee

by TinKan

The Bavarian King, Ludwig's II decided to make a replica of Versailles but only managed to build the a portion of it. This portion is the largest to be built and the last of Ludwig's three castles and palaces. The palace is located on an island in the middle of a lovely lake called Chiemsee. The island is named "Herreninsel".

Prien am Chiemsee

by TinKan

This little town is the gateway to Schloss Herrenchiemsee. Take some time to look around the town and see some of the sights that are around here. The town is very busy with tourist and some of the prices are a bit high in the summer months but a walk around does not cost anything.

Franken (Franconia)

by Henkster

This is the region in the north of Bayern.By far not as many visitors as Bayern's south. There is one destination which is not overlooked and that is for sure the world-famous medieval well-preserved Rothenburg ob der Tauber.Franken's capital Nürnberg is only visited during their famous Christmas Market.Other great places in Bavaria's north include Würzburg, Bamberg and Erlangen.

We had a very very short stop at Starnberg to take a pic of Starnberger See. BTW: The station is just next to the lake. That is the lake where King Ludwig died.
