Public Press Maps are ideal for sightseeing

by Trekki

Apart from the obvious (sunscreen, walking gear, rain protection, layers for all temperatures etc) I can only highly recommend to purchase a map from publisher Publicpress. I recently found these in my local bookstore and since then I never leave home without them. They are available for almost all parts of Germany and with 2,95 Euro they are ridiculously reasonable in price. The scale is approx. 1:150.000 (some have 1:140.000, some 1:155.000, etc) and they have little flags at all the points of interest and markers for other sights to see. Very useful and very much reliable. The only “downside” is that they are available in German only. But then, map is map and German names help to identify the road signs and other places.I had No 43, Oberbayern with me. It covers the region of Pfaffenwinkel and some neighbouring parts; from Ammersee in the north to Bayrischzell in the east to...

Remeber to bring with you a elegant and classy suit. Because the weather maybe a little cold, I suggest to take something warm, like a sheep. (It's very likely to find a gentleman who can swap his home made liquor with a rib)

Climate in Bavaria

by Leipzig

The Bavarian climate is determined by frequent weather changes. There is precipitation all the year round. According to the amount of precipitation the lowlands are the driest region, the wettest are the mountainous regions. Due to thunderstorms June and July are the wettest month, the sunniest are the winter months (annual mean values). The summers are most of time warm and sunny with occasional thunderstorms. In the lowlands the maximum mean temperature is between 21 and 24°C (70-75°F), at nights it drops to 10°C (50°F). In the mountains temperature is about 18°C (64°F) at days and 10°C (50°F) at nights. Of course, the higher you climb the colder it gets. The winters are most of time chilly with occasional rain and snow showers. In the lowlands the maximum mean temperature is between -2 and 4°C (28 - 39°F), at nights it usually drops below freezing point. In the mountains temperature...

A: If I understand correctly, Bayern Takt describes a system of schedules and connections, not a ticket. You probably mean Bayern-Ticket which is indeed valid for up to 5...
