There are several small hicking-paths leading up the hill and within 20-30 minutes you will be at the castle, depending which path you take.
Along the way you will have plenty of great views on the city, and maybe you drive up by bus and take the walk down, like I did myself.
No special hiking shoes are required, but walking in high heels is certainly not a good idea.
Especially in autumn the path might be slippery at some places. Leave a Comment Theme: HikingDirections: The path shown on my pic is the one leading from the Marienbrücke to the left. The one to the right is mostly just steps and cobbled stones.

On both shores of the Danube and also of the river Inn you will mostly find seperate small streets ONLY for Bikers, without any car-trafic.
Only the first part of the Danube cyclers have to go on ordinary streets, all the rest they go on the ancient so-called "Treppelweg", where in medieval times horses were tearing the rafts upstream.
In Passau you will find plenty of places, where you may rent a bike or biking-equipment.
One of them is the one with the funny name "Bike-clinic" - see my link below !
