Get a Boat Ride
BruceDunning Says:
WE did not go into the town, but did see the hospital along the way. The dock is where 95% of the people want to go, I imagine.
Herren Chiemsee
visitcebu Says:
Located within the Lake of Chiemsee is an excellent but unfinished castle by the famous Ludwig II. Take a ferry to the island and see the palace grounds and the guided tour as well.
Königssee

Notice the steam boiler
codrutz Says:
After seeing the huge boilers on the monster locomotives in Speyer Tehnik Museum, this looks almost like a toy locomotive, but its steamer boiler is very nice and hidden inside the first cart.
Take a ride in the steam tram
codrutz Says:
This green tram is a beauty. It is the original steam tram the town of Priem used to have. Now it's a single line from town center to the pier. Taking a journey with this steam little engine is great, especially for those who did not experienced steam trains before.
Walking in the parks
TinKan Says:
There is a very nice walking path around the town. Here you will find many people walking and skating along the lakes edge. The path is well lit at night and make for a romantic walk at night.
Herrenchiemsee Palace
Henkster Says:
Don't miss to take the Ferry boat to the "Herreninsel" - the huge island with the beautiful palace built by Ludwig II. to copy Versailles in France! It is incredible, even if it was unfinished.
Prien am Chiemsee: Many little bed and breakfast hotels
TinKan Says:
There are many little 5 and 6 room hotels in the area to choose from. Most include some sort of breakfast. You will need to book weeks in advance for the weekends durring the summer time as many Germans come here for a weekend break.

At several of the sidewalk eating places we found some of the best Ice Cream. It was nice to sit and watch the boats come in and out of the port while having a nice German coffee and Ice Cream.

Pets and smoking are not allowed in any of the buildings of the Herrenchiemsee Palace.
Dogs must be kept on leads on the island.
We didn’t know it and Asslan stayed in our car in Prien…
He didn’t see the Palace and was disappointed as well…
But when we came back fron Herreninsel we had a very pleasant walk with Asslan along the shore of the lake. It makes me think that Asslan liked Prien very much.

There are a few places that will take you out sailing or boating around the lake. We found the prices to be way to high and decided to skip the boating. The lake is very large and loaded with sail boats which looked like it was THE place to be if you wanted to sail.

Bavaria is my kind of place
travelingcebuano Says:
I love Bavaria! From the people, to the food and the place. This is one part of Germany where I can keep coming back to, over and over again, and still find something new to do (or I keep doing what I like doing too).
