Good local food at reasonable prices especially lunch time.
Favorite Dish: Obatz'da is a brie cheese mixed with paprika and onions served with radi (a local speciality) and the local Zwickelbier from the Thurn und Taxis brewery.

Address: Stadtpark Regensburg.
Inexpensive, local traditional atmosphere, great local beer (Kneitinger Helles, and Bock)
The food is fresh and you can choose to dine in the original small front area after 18:00 most of these tables are reserved. There is a middle "alleyway" wher you can always find a seat family style. There are two rooms in the back which are a little less smokey.
Favorite Dish: Schweinesbraten mit Knoedl und Krautsalat.
Roast Pork with potato dumplings and cabbage salad (not Sauerkraut)

Try the Weisswurst with the original "Händlmeier"-Senf (mustard). The mustard is made here!
Further I can recommend you the beers of Regensburg, as they are: Thurn und Taxis, Bischofshof and, and, and .....
BUT: Don´t drink and drive!

Fresh white radishes, soft golden pretzels and fresh jicima slices-- so, - just what do these items have in common?? When combined with a small pot of spiced nippy cheese dip, they create an extremely popular appetizer served throughout Northern Bavaria. Situated at the heart of Regensburg’s popular Medieval city-center, the Bischofshof Restaurant specializes in authentic, regional cuisine prepared from only the freshest ingredients which are treated with restraint, respect and skill.
Favorite Dish: Service was courteous and attentive without being intrusive. We finished our meal with glasses of an exquisite cream sherry accompanied by the house specialty-dessert, a walnut, apple and raisin laden strudel-- beyond compare. We took a moment to compliment our host and hostess on their fine establishment before returning to our hotel to thank our concierge for his wonderful recommendation.

You have to try the old sausage kitchen 'Historische Wurstküche', jsut next to the Steinerne Brücke ( the stone bridge). You will not miss it, because you can smell it two km away and see the smoke from the kitchen one km away.
Favorite Dish: Bröchen mit Wurst, suess Senf, 2 mark

Don Juan for breakfast, Restaurant Prinzess for lunch and ice cream at Gelakria Venezia.
The waitress was sweet at Restaurant Prinzess. I was trying so hard to not be American and she came out with my sandwich with a small American flag as a pick. And I ate outside at both restaurants. I love that.
Favorite Dish: Breakfast included all the traditional European fare, and the orange juice is fresh squeezed (not even chilled!), which is a real treat. My 'piccola' breakfast was quite substantial and cost DM 11.90 (US $5.70).
Lunch was actually combination of dinner and lunch. Big sandwiches and soup. The meal was DM 49.50 (US $25) for two of us and it included big beers.
Ice cream in Europe is a delight. Light and fruity and beautifully prepared. A bit pricey...DM 24 (US $12) for two sundaes and mineral water.

In summer you can sit outside and have a wonderful view to the cathedral. Inside is a nice atmosphere and in the basement you can find a bar.
