Grainbach is your gateway to the Hochries. Hochries is a mountain above Samerberg and you can either hike up or take the cable car if it’s running. At the end of 2008/beginning of 2009 it wasn’t running as it had financial difficulties. Let’s hope that they find a solution soon. We actually stayed in Grainbach and used it as a base to explore the region.

Toerwang is the center of Samerberg. Here you will find a tourist office, a tiny post office, a couple of banks and the one and only supermarket on Samerberg as facilites.

Rossholzen is a small village between Toerwang and the Inn valley. It features an interesting church called St. Bartholomaeus. Otherwise the hamlet is somewhat bigger than Steinkirchen as it has e.g. a depot for the fire engines.

Steinkirchen is a cute hamlet surrounded by nature and farming country. Its main attraction is St. Peter church. Steinkirchen is easily reached from Toerwang on foot or by car.
