The wild romantic Pollat gorge is impressive and certainly worth a visit.
It's situated just under the mountain where Neuschwanstein Castle towers. The Pollat stream bends the castle around from the north.
The picturesque track goes down in the gorge. It is possible here to have a rest from crowds of tourists and vanity of world famous sight.

Just north of Schwangau after visiting Mad King Ludwi's castles and while your senses are still tingling from an overexposure to grandeur on the grandest scale, follow the signs to Wieskirche, or the church in der wiess.
Cameras will not do it justice so buy a few postcards instead.
Even my Hindu wife and daughter sat in the pews for 30 minutes constantly saying "wow" or words to that effect, in Tamil.
Another must see on the Romantische Strasse

Anybody visiting this area should never miss the opportunity to visit the castles.
