Oktoberfest

by Leipzig

Don't get me wrong, I like festivals but the Munich Oktoberfest is a way too big. Millions of tipsy people overcrowd the fairground. Prices are very high and you hardly get in one of the beer tents. I prefer smaller festivals. Munich offers a lot more! Why not to have a beer in the English Garden or in one of the cozy cafés and pubs?

If you have to go, but really, you don't have to..

Neuschwanstein is perhaps the single most visited attraction in Germany and that alone should keep you from going. Disney is probably responsible as he stole the image for his fairy tale castle. But it's over crowded and the tour is expensive and poorly done. If you have to go, just enjoy the castle from one of the trails that circle it. The interior is disappointing and it is the setting that makes it special. There are plenty of other castles in Bavaria, so give them your money and perhaps this most famous one will have to try harder in the future to wrestle your tourist dollars (er, Euros).

A: If I understand correctly, Bayern Takt describes a system of schedules and connections, not a ticket. You probably mean Bayern-Ticket which is indeed valid for up to 5...
