The buildings surrounding the square are both Baroque and Renaissance in styles. They mostly date back to mid 1600's to mid 1700's. A lot are residences with shops below on ground level. The only other commercial area is off the square and has some restaurants and shops, but not long. The town is a walled village. They have a Kunstler Musuem and Heimatmuseum, but we did not go into either because they were not open while we were there early in morning.
The RAthaus dates back to 1551, and the crenellated roof line stands out on the horizon

This church is large and takes up one side of the square, along with an adjacent church and sanctuary that is Protestant. The double towers are the symbol of pride here. The church, or its predecessors date back to 1030 for the site where one existed. The BAroque style of the current day dates back to 18th century when it was renovated.

Along the road to Oettingen you can see the beautiful church of Maria Brunnlein which is a destination of pilgrimages. Its interio is very beautiful: it is adorned by rococò plasters and frescos made by Johann Baptist Zimmermann
