If you happen to be anywhere near the tourist trap area around Neuschwanstein, drive a little more and visit the "must see" Wieskirche. Always explore the area around the tourist site. It is usually equally interesting. Around Wieskirche are meadows and walking paths. As you look up, the Alps are in the background. One of the loveliest churches in Europe is the "Wies Church". You can take a bus from any of the main towns or you can drive your car here.
If you do drive there is a very big parking lot that was full when we arrived there.
There were many locals that rode their bikes here from some of the local towns.
We never made it to the town and we only got to see the church but this was so worth the side trip.
