Sulzfeld, too, has a lovely old town wall. One of the local specialties here - in case you want to eat - are fried sausages by the yard, neatly coiled up. Order them as 'Meterbratwurst' and enjoy some fresh bread and Sauerkraut with the sausage!

Sommerach, pop.1300. It´s the 'prettiest village of Franconia' and I can only support this view. It is pretty indeed. Again, you´ll find old but well-kept buildings as well as a town wall from the 15/16th century. And wine! Their wine festival is on the second weekend in July, and you´ve got to try 'Sommeracher Katzenkopf', 'Engelsberg' and 'Rosenberg'. Ssssssslurptuous!

Kitzingen may be known among some of the American VT members - the town held a largish US military base until a few years ago. This here is the town hall, Kitzingen is administrative centre for the villages east of Würzburg.

Escherndorf is one of the lovely villages on the River Main, surrounded by vineyards. They make great wine there, the most famous ones are called 'Escherndorfer Lump' and 'Escherndorfer Fürstenberg'. Try them!

    Kapelle.
The kapelle is a small church hidden near the fortress Marienberg. You get there by following a stair covered by trees and vines. Once you get there you follow the twelve station of christ and at the end the church. I dont have any pictures of the church because there was a ceremony going on so I did not what to intrude.

Early summertime is the time for...STRAWBERRIES!!! There are strawberry farms all over the place where you go pick them yourself! Just take something to carry them in (like my old Easter basket?!), have it weighed, and start picking. There's nothing like fresh strawberries on a warm summer day...except a fresh strawberry floating in a glass of wine.

    Kebab, anyone?

I did not sample the kebab but this must be the fanciest doner kebab shop I have ever seen. Next to the Alte Marienbrucke on the fortress side.

Augustiner Kirche is a small church located along Schonbornstrasse. The Baroque facade is very simple. The interior of the church has got a single nave with nice plasters in the choir.
