This wonderful room is the masterpiece of Neumann. The time is free from every support and it is great 600 square meters on which G.B.Tiepolo painted in 1753 the greatest fresco of the world. It symbolizes the homage of the four known continents to the prince bishop: America is represented by a woman redskin decorates of feathers and sat on a crocodile; Asia is represented by an Indian woman on an elephant; Africa is represented from a black princess on a camel; Europe, sets above the entry to the rooms, is placed side by side by the representatives of the arts, among which you can recognizes the same Tiepolo accompanied by his children Lorenzo and Giandomenico.

Atrium

Inside the Residenz you can wonderful Baroque decorations. The atrium is not very tall but it has got pillars with statues. The Gartensaal is fantastic: it is completely decorated with plasters made by Antonio Bossi.

The facade is articulated in three bodies around the courtyard of honor, with the wings side advances in comparison to the central body. The windows have triangular and curvilinear pediments; the side bodies have pediments with sculptures and Corinthian capitals. The central facade is mostly decorated and it is crowned by a baluster with statues.

The wonderful Residenz is the masterpiece of Wurzburg. It was built by the princes-bishops von Schönborn to trasform the town in a Baroque capital. The works of construction began in 1720 with an average of 100 workers a day under the direction of Balthasar Neumann and of Giovan Battista Tiepolo who is author of the splendid frescos that decorates the insides, he being paid 40000 fiorins, a fortune for the epoch. The works of constructions and decoration of this stupendous palace of over 300 rooms and with wine cellars able to entertain over a million and a half of liters of wine, were concluded in 1779. During the bombardments of the Second War World in 1945 big part of the state apartments and of the building was destroyed. The central wing with the Kaisersaal and the staircase of honor were saved by the bombardments.
From 1945 until 1987 the building and its interiors were reconstructed to their current state. The rebuilding cost about 20 million Euros.
The Würzburg Residence with the Court Gardens and Residence Square was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1981.

Residenzplatz is the big square in front of the Residenz. Originally great part of the square was surrounded from a railing (as you can is see in some presses inside the Residenz) realized by Georg Oegg and demolished in 1821 when the Rosenbachhof (wine cellar of government court) and the Villa of the Ambassadors were built.
In the middle of the square there is the beautiful fountain of the Franconia made by Ferdinand von Miller in 1894.

The baroque apse of the Dom St.Kilian is wonderful. There you can see Baroque plasters and it is one of the few part of the church which weren't destroyed during the Second War World. In the transept you can see some wonderful graves: very nice is the one of the bishop Konrad con Thungen (made by Loy Hering) and a sculpture of the apostles Peter and Andrew (made by Rimenscgneider in 1505).
Balthasar Neumann realized the funeral chapel of the Schonborn's family (1721-1736) in the left transept.

The interior of the Dom St.Kilian has got three naves in the typical Romanesque style that the reconstruction has left completely bare. In the naves you can see a Pietas made in 1410 and sculputeres along the laterel naves and on the pillars. Many of them are masterpieces made by Tilman Riemenschneider and they are characterized from a deep incision and from the sad expression and aching of the characters.

Dom St.Kilian is the fourth biggest Romanesque church of Germany. It was built in the 11th century and in the 17th century it was modified in Baroque style. The church was completely destroyed during the bombardment of the Second War World in 1945. The reconstruction has restored to the esterior the Romanesque aspect with two towers in correspondence of the facade and of the apse. You can see Baroque parts in the left transept.

St.Burkard is situated to the feet of Marienberg. It was settled by Benedectine in 748 in a Romanesque style and it was restored in the 15th century modifying many parts of the structure in Gothic style. Inside the church you can see the Lady made by Tilman Riemenschneider in 1500 and the Crucifixion made bt the Riemenschneider's school.
