We travelled by train from Bremen to Diepholz and beyond. We bought a Niedersachsen Tageskarte for just 26E (or 13E each) which can be used for up to 5 people for the entire day, all over the region until 3am the next day - a real bargain as we had a lot of travelling to do that day and it saved us a small fortune in fares! This is a central station and as well as local trains, you can catch an IC train to many other German cities including Hamburg, Magdeburg, Berlin etc, and also Schiphol (Amsterdam!). Through the Deutsche Bahn website it is now possible to book AND print your tickets in advance of your trip. Check the website for details. Leave a Comment

The tram (number 6) from the airport runs every couple of minutes, costs just 2.10E and is the most convenient method of transportation to the city centre. Once you are in the city, look out for them when crossing the roads! If you come from a city that doesn't have trams, they can catch you unawares as they come round corners and from every direction and have you running for the safety of the pavement! :) Leave a Comment

by Rupanworld If anybody plans to travel by tram around the important tourist attractions of Bremen, the important trams are number 2 and 3 and the stoppages to look for are Obernstrasse and Domsheide. At Obernstrasse, you get down for the Town Hall, Ratskeller, Roland Statue, Schuetting (Guildhall), the statue of the Town Musicians, the Haus der Buergerschaft (Parliament), the Am Markt square, Church of our lady and the Stadtwaage Arts Centre and at Domsheide, one has to get down for the St. Peter's Cathedral, Boettcherstrasse, Carillon, St. Martin's Church and the Schnoor quarter. However, the two areas are so undemarkable that one hardly needs to travel by tram at all, if not for curiosity sake. Theme: Other

Going to Bremen by train is the best option. One has to buy the Niedersachsen ticket (single or group of five person) which is the cheapest option for a day trip. For a group ticket one has to pay 28 euros for round trip. So 28 Euros for 5 persons is just cool. It takes 1 hour 20 minutes from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof to Bremen hauptbahnhof. Theme: Train

walking around Bremen and discovering its beautiful buildings, heritage sites and all other tourist attractions is the best option. Most of the tourist attractions are concentrated in one single place, the market square which is just 10 minutes walk from the main train station. Theme: Other

At Bremen Station by barryg23 Travelling in Germany by train can be expensive but there are some good value fares, especially at off peak times, on slower trains or when travelling in groups. A return from Hamburg to Bremen cost us 30 Euros for two and the journey took just over an hour. Leave a Comment
