Pedestrian in danger, bicycles have no rules.
In Bremen as in many german cities a lot was done to make easy to move on bicycles.
The problem is that their drivers now feel allowed to do everything on the roads or pavement, and really behave like if there was no other option to move around :
They drive fast on the pedestrian area, they don't respect anything, they are a real danger for the tourist who would like to stay safe. Always keep in mind that they can arrive, sometimes very fast, from any direction.
It is time now for State to act against the incivism of cyclists and to preserve the possibility to walk safe in the city.

Just for Moms and Dads
This is a tip for those Moms and Dads only who wsh to go to Bremen with a child and the buggy. I had the experience and thought I should share. The streets of Bremen are perfectly fine for buggies, but please be prepared for a dissapointing experience at the schnoor. The alleyways in schnoor are so unimaginably uneven that carrying a baby in a buggy becomes impossible. I could not discover the interiors of the schnoor because of this. However, as I took some photos, my husband had to literally wait outside the area with Urja in her buggy.

The trams in the main shopping street - the Obernstrasse - at along the market run at the walkways and you have to become aware of them.
Luckely they ride with slow speed (but sometimes that means a silent killer).
So, keep track of the trams.
The station square is the other tram hurdle you need to take.
Also here the walkways are combined with tram tracks and as a first visitor you don't know which tramline goes where.
- Hiking and Walking
There are some beggars at Bremen. I saw the diehard drinkers still gather at the City Hall outside benches. Some others were scattered throughout town. Even a sole punkster was hanging around with just a cup. As far as I could see they belong to the local known figures and posed no threat at all. The picture is of the Herdentor bridge and amazingly the owner of the rags and coin box was gone for an hour, but his things just stayed untouched all time. It gave me the feeling, that Bremen was a very honest and safe town.
There were a handful of musicians here and there, really earning an honest buck.

Watch out for those soccer...
Watch out for those soccer riots. I came out of the train station one evening just in time to witness the Hamburg and Bremen soccer fans break out into a five minute riot. The police started busting heads and it was over as quick as it started.
