In the small basin in front of the Rathaus stands this monument to soldiers from Hamburg who perished in the First World War.
The sad irony is that many more people from Hamburg died here, in the city, in a single week of bombing in July 1943.
City Hall (More pics are in Travelogue ^^)
Fondest memory: It's not only a office building for government, it's open to everyone. You may find interesting exhibitions sometimes. There's an open-air court, where people can enjoy coffee or something. Also a beautiful fountain is there. I like sculptures of the fountain so much.
Favorite thing: Surely an impressive building, When strolling around Binnenalster and pedestrial shopping area of Hamburg you won´t miss the townhall. I haven´t been inside, so I can´t tell too much about it.
The lake is near City Hall.
I like the atmosphere there: swans swim in it with great leisure and grace; children play with pigeons; people sit beside it, enjoying the relaxing moments...
