Blankenese is a small village in the outskirts of Hamburg and it is well known for lovely villas facing the river Elbe. Rich and wealthy people build their regular residence or summerhouses there.
You may get to Blanenese easily by S1 and may walk downhill from the train-station to the river Elbe, where you will see the most beautiful villas along your way downhill.
is the name of this famous village in the outskirts to the west of Hamburg at the northern river bank of the Elbe River. It used to be a poor fishing village, a long time ago, and now is one of the top addresses to live in Hamburg. The mainly white buildings are cuddling up to the soft green hills.
There are no real streets between the classy houses but mainly stairs up and stairs down offering fantastic views of the Elbe and the houses.
At the river bank there is a very popular path to stroll along on a sunny afternoon, to show off with the new cabriolet or just to walk the brandnew Gucci outfit bought on “Neuer Wall”. The nicest walk is up the river (in direction to the center) to “Övelgönne”.

Yet, the neet, partly thatched houses line up the picturesque hill till nowadays. As there are no streets, you can walk through this part of town via many many stairways which only lead you to more stairways and connect the promenade of the River Elbe with higher-located houses. This is a MUST!

This old mellifluous fisher-nest is more than 700 hundred years old. Today it is one of the rich and fancy spots in Hamburg. There are good reasons for that. Set on a hill close to the Elbe-River it provides their inhabitants with a high standard of life. A good place to go for a walk or relax at the beach.

Blankenese is the south-west residential district of Hamburg. It is quiet, probably rich, and I though it was just felt nice to be there a bit.
