Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: In German we say "onion look" - many skins that you can peel off one after the other...
I guess that says everything about weather here. It does not bother if it is summer or not - there are periods when it rains a lot - even hail might happen on cool summer days. My relatives from the States could not believe that when we had to move our BBQ equipement... So Umbrella, raincoat, and take along at least a sweater even in the summer.
But it also can be great: like in summer 2006 when there was the soccer world cup. But I never experienced a summer like that before...

raincoat
umbrella
water-resistant shoes

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: you will find everything in hamburg.

Photo Equipment: No difficulties at all. Contact me if you need a proffesional lab. there are plenty of them - Hamburg is Germanys capital of media and advertising.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: There is a Beach at the Elbe river. At summertime there go to the Strandperle
(Bus 36 - Dir. 'Blankenese'). It will be overcrowded with sun loving 'HAMBURGERS'

Luggage and bags: Obviously (if you aren't backpacking) you'll want a suitcase device on wheels. I found a 27' suitcase and one 'overnight' size bag to be just fine for a three-week sojourn. Probably the most important part of the suitcase is the wheels, so make sure they are good.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: The main item to have in Hamburg (or any other seaport) is at least a rain slicker and most definitely an umbrella. It rained at least some of the day, every day, but two in a three-week visit to Europe .

Luggage and bags: it was just me and my backpack. It's also a good idea to have a smaller backpack with you for day use.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: I was there in July and it rained so I would recommend a light rain coat.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Germany is a civilized country. You should be able to find anything you need in a local store.
