Alex at The Alsterpavillion: Great Daily Brunch Perfect for Casual Celebrations
Known currently as the "ALEX in Alsterpavillion", this restaurant located on Hamburg's Inner Alster Lake provides elegant panoramic views with a casually chic metropolitan ambiance. The menu is fresh (Tomato Soup with Basil Pesto Cream), continental (Beef Steaks, Traditional German Schnitzel & various potato appetizers), with a dash of exotic influences (Red Coconut Curry Soup, Sweet Potato Chickpea Curry), and is hailed for it's daily €9 brunch- a massive buffet featuring traditional European breakfast elements ( cold cured meats, smoked salmon, sliced tomatoes & cucumber salads, cheeses, breads of all types, fruits, mueslis, yogurts & assorted marmalades), and American style favorites like bacon, sausages, and scrambled eggs. Although large with a sizable waitstaff, the Alex provides a relaxing way to spend time enjoying a daytime meal in the middle of downtown's hustle and bustle, with a crowd that ranges from businessmen to department store cosmetics counter ladies to backpacking student tourists and suburban housewives shopping in the city.
Favorite Dish: The curries are all a hit in my book, and the soups range from delicate to hearty, but are are filling. My favorite menu feature, however, is the daily brunch that runs from 8am-Noon. It's perfect for meeting friends and satisfies every possible desire you could want for a breakfast whether you prefer light, diet style eating plan, or would like heavier, American style fare. It includes juice, water and tea, but other beverages (like sodas, your favorite style of Italian coffee, Bloody Marys or Champagne) are extra.
Appetizers range from 5-7 Euros. Entrees (burgers, pastas, meats, salads, sandwiches) range from 7-17 Euros. The Pavillion also creates very ornate ice cream dishes and and Belgian waffle desserts

ALSTER PAVILLON: BEST DINING EXPERIENCE ON THE RIVER BY NIGHT
THIS WAS ACTUALLY ONE OF THE BIGGEST DINER THAT I VISITED IN HAMBURG. ITS A MORE KIND OF MEETING PLACE FOR PEOPLE (MOSTLY YOUNG) THAN IT CAN BE REFERRED TO AS A RESTAURANT, THIS FOR THE REASON THAT YOU CAN POP BY FOR A DRINK, COFFEE, SNACK OR EVEN A MEAL. THERE IS QUITE A VARIETY IN THE MENU AND THE STAFF ARE REALLY FRIENDLY. AT THE SIDE THERE ARE TABLES OVERLOOKING THE RIVER AND ALMOST FROM EVERYWHERE IN THE RESTAURANT AT NIGHT YOU CAN ENJOY THE SPLENDOUR OF THE RIVER AND THE BUILDINGS SURROUNDING IT. ON THAT PARTICULAR NIGHT IT WAS HALLOWEEN AND THE ATMOSPHERE WAS REALLY GOOD. IT WAS VERY BUSY. I NOTICED THERE WERE BOAT TRIPS NEAR BY WHICH MUST BE IDEAL DURING THE DAY. ANOTHER PLUS IS THAT ITS CLOSE TO THE SHOPS AND WALKING DISTANCE FROM THE UNDERGROUND.
Favorite Dish: CANNOT TELL MY FAVOURITE DISH, I HAD A SNACK.. A MEGA SANDWICH .. IF YOU CAN CALL IT A SNACK. THE FOOD WAS GOOD AND IN BIG PORTIONS YET I COULD NOT FOCUS ON THE FOOD FOR THE ATMOSPHERE WAS AMAZING.
Alster Pavilion: Alster Pavilion
Nice cafe on the Jungfernsteig end of the inner alster. Good coffee, hot Chocolate and anything else you fancy to drink and just delicious cakes and pastries are served along with other meals. A great place for coffee and cake and to watch the boats on the Alster - highly reccommended experience
