Sometimes people are found on the coast. Nobody knows their names and therefore there is a graveyard on Neuwerk for nameless people. Only one grave has a name. It was a student who died on his way to Neuwerk.
The guided tours to Neuwerk start from Sahlenburg beach. You can check the starting times from timetables hanging out there. The price is about 2-3Euros and therefore affordable.
You can climb the tower on Neuwerk. From there you will have a nice view on the island and towards the coast.

In case you want to get to Neuwerk and kep your feet clean, but still experience the Watt, then you can take a coach from Sahlenburg or Duhnen. It is much faster then walking. Back you can take the boat as if you came by feet.
Like the time when the tidess are at correct time, you should also check the time of the boat, which should bring you back. Also these are found in at Sahlenburg beach and Duhnen beach.
Don't miss the only ship back, otherwise you will have to stay in the hay! Don'tknow what it costs...
If you plan to walk to Neuwerk you will have to plan in advance. On the net you can check the times of the tides, which shift day by day and which are sometimes higher or lower. Also at the beach in Sahlenburg and Duhnen you can check the timetable. For sure the tourist office will help you as well.
In case you plan to walk on your own, you should carefully check the times of the tides. Estimate about 3 hours walking time (it is about 9-10 kilometers from Sahlenburg). The path to walk is marked with branches sticking in the sand. The also mark the way for the coaches and cars (only authorized people are allowed to drive there!!!). Preferably you will take a guided tour, which also goes a little off this path.
Take care when you walk around in the Watt, the oceans ground! It is pretty easy to cut your feet, but if you take care you will enjoy the walk! For areas with a lot of shells, you can put on beach sandals (not slippers, cause they stick on the ground).
